SFV dedicates the 2009 season in memory of Omar Pinto, a great teammate and a great friend. Omar was a dedicated player and a huge part of the SFV family. Rest in peace Comrade.

The San Fernando Valley Rugby Club is a successful and prestigious rugby club, located just north of downtown Los Angeles, California. Established in 1963, SFV competes in the 2nd Division of the Southern California Rugby Union, part of the USA Rugby Union.
The club is composed of 40-50 active team players and hundreds of additional members and alumni.The team demographics cut all across the board. They include multi-national, multi-racial players and professionals from England, Wales, Korea, Russia, Ireland, Tonga, New Zealand, Argentina, Peru, Bulgaria, Armenia, Jamaica... and even the U.S.!
Club members maintain a diverse collection of occupations, including those working in the entertainment industry, information technology, education, small business owners, and students.

All Players Welcome
Our regular Tuesday and Thursday night practices are open to all active players, returning veterans, and any new players. Come on out and join the fun! Be a part of SFV Rugby's 2009 season.

Directions
Tuesday and Thursday night practice is held at Van Nuys Sherman Oaks Park, beginning at 7:45. Our Home games are held at the newly renovated Pierce College Stadium. Feel free to bring the family! Our home games are family-friendly events, featuring great activities for kids, our World Famous Hot Dog Cart, and of course GREAT VALLEY RUGBY ACTION! DANIEL! Firing up the boys at every turn, it's Daniel's selfless nature that rings true in his game. Sacrificing his well being time and again, pummeling their props and locks with hit after hit. His tackles are really quite the thing of wonder, as he doesn't go especially low but appears to meld with the attacking player, stopping them in thier tracks and sending them wilting to the pitch. Add in the big runs on the day, and this selection was a no-brainer. GREAT GAME DANIEL!
Honorable Mentions
Honorable Mentions to:
BYRON! This nose-to-the-grindstone player displayed fierce determination in the face of the opposing winger perhaps thrice his size. Gritty and persistent, Byron showed on this day that he is a Valley Dog for real.
WELL DONE BYRON!
ALEX! A never say die attitude shined through on this day, providing once again inspiring leadership in the B Side captain's role, along with strong work in the rucks sparking the final ten minutes of the A Side game.

MITCH! The Legend of Mitch continues, showing strong versatility and an eagerness to play a variety of positions. Mitch's hunger for the game, and the ease with which he soaks up new ideas, lends way to his quickly becoming a reliable member of the club.

GREG! Perhaps there has never been a member of Valley, new to the club this week, new to the game of rugby, getting their first ever game action, playing a full match, and showing this type of natural and instinctive skills, then leading to an HM award. Tremendous work in the lineouts and some huge hits.
